NxtGen – An Evolution in LED Lighting!
Dr Gareth John, from the testing laboratory Photometric and Optical Testing, reviewed the new SimplyLED NxtGen Series III bulbs as part of his regular column in Lighting Magazine.
We knew it was good! During the design process of the NxtGen Series III we looked to tweak all of the little things that customers pointed out while maintaining the performance of the original NxtGen Series bulb. Out went the black casing to be replaced with the new silver casing which customers prefer. The LED chips were replaced with a better specification version to allow the bulb to easily surpass the new ErP legislation with a better Colour Rendering Index (CRI). Unlike some of the poorer bulbs on the market which can cast an ugly greenish hue, our NxtGen Series III reproduces colours perfectly. At the same time we optimised the internal electronics to improve the power factor. As part of this, the bulb went through thousands of hours of testing in order to be signed off for ErP compliancy by TUV – in particular with regards to the ‘useful lumens’ which under the new EU rules have to be displayed on both the packaging and bulb itself.
Dr Gareth John, from our testing laboratory Photometric and Optical Testing, asked if we’d be happy for him to review the product as part of his regular column in Lighting Magazine. Dr Gareth John had done some testing for us earlier in the year when we received the first pre-production samples to ensure that the bulb met the specifications given by our manufacturer. In fact, the performance of the bulb surpassed even our expectations.
We’d like to point out that it wasn’t a paid for article, Dr Gareth John was simply writing about a product he felt was specified and manufactured well.
