Postal company DPD in Germany have switched their lighting to LED in an attempt to cut their energy use.
With 33 out of the 76 depots converted to LED they should see their carbon dioxide emissions down by 1,700 tonnes. The electricity consumption will be cut by 2.8kWh. The remaining 43 depots will be gradually converted to LED as part of GeoPost and La Poste Group‘s plan to reduce carbon emissions and cut energy use.
DPD Germany’s Manager of Sustainability and Innovation, Gerd Seber, said:
The conversion to LED technology will lead directly to a significant reduction in the CO2 emissions produced by the individual locations. By making the switch DPD will save not just energy but will also have to offset fewer harmful emissions in order to achieve carbon-neutral parcel shipping.
