Global technology research firm, ON World, revealed that Wireless LED light bulbs will be widespread in America within the next 5 years.

Wireless LED lighting is one of the fastest growing smart home and Internet of things products in terms of popularity. Retail sales tripled for the smart bulb in 2013 and it is expected that by the end of 2014 most major LED lighting manufacturers will sell wireless LED light bulbs.

Out of the 1,000 American adults, a third of them is interested in buying a wireless LED bulb. 48% are willing to pay $10 or more for a smart bulb and 26% are willing to pay $20 or more. As an alternative to paying upfront, 44% of respondents would spend $5 per month on an LED lighting control system service and 22% are willing to spend $15 or more per month. Reliability is the most important smart home sensing and control system feature selected by over half of the likely adopters.

By 2020, there will be 100 million Internet-connected wireless light bulbs and lamps.
